Developing Your Intuition

By Kim Hutchinson

Humanity is collectively experiencing an unprecedented and massive awakening, or rather re-awakening. As this process is challenging, to say the least, it is of utmost importance that you learn to trust your intuition. Your sixth sense is the best guide through this awakening process. In order to know how to develop your intuition, you must first recognize the signs. Most of us have at least one ‘activated’ primary extrasensory gift, but we will eventually develop them all.

EXERCISE

Part A: Think of your favourite movie. If you’re having trouble identifying your favourite, just choose one that you really like. Now, I want you to think about why you like this movie so much. Go with the first thing that comes to mind. Don’t over think it.

1)   Clairvoyance:
If you picked your movie based on visual appeal – things like breathtaking cinematography, an exotic locale, or good looking actors – you are primarily clairvoyant, or ‘clear seeing’. That means your signs will appear in the form of visual clues. You might see objects in odd places or be drawn to relevant magazine articles or TV shows. You may also see orbs and sparkles of light. Other messages will come in the form of dreams and mental movies. You may even feel a pulsating sensation in your third eye chakra as the information is received.

Development: A good way to develop your clairvoyance is to keep a dream journal. Even if you think you do not dream, rest assured you do. We all have multiple dreams per night. Using a dream journal trains your subconscious mind to communicate with your conscious waking mind. Once you are in the habit of remembering and recording your dreams, you can either use a dream dictionary to decipher their symbolism or look up the meanings online. Better yet, listen to your own wisdom regarding the meanings. The first answer is generally the right one. Then, look at the dream as a whole. Not every dream is prophetic, but some definitely are. You can take this a step further by concentrating on a question as you are falling asleep. That focuses the messages that you receive. Ask Archangel Raziel to assist you with both receiving an remembering your dream clues. If you’re a person who struggles to remember your dreams, drink a glass of water before bedtime. Your bladder will awaken you mid-dream, and you have a better chance of remembering your dream.

2)   Clairsentience:
Did you pick your favourite movie based on the way it makes you feel? Maybe it’s a love story, a comedy or even a thriller. That means you are clairsentient, or ‘clear feeling’. Your messages are going to be transmitted through emotions, feelings and sensations. The feelings can be external, like changes in temperature or air pressure, or internal such as gut reactions and hunches. This information will be received primarily through your heart chakra.

Development: The majority of people are clairsentient and don’t even realize their power. As a society, we tend to dismiss our feelings. Your hunches are powerful and are well-worth developing. In order to develop your clairsentience, heed your instincts. The more you pay attention to your intuition, the stronger it gets. If you get a sudden urge to take a new route home, do it! You never know, your intuition might be trying to save you from being in accident. Or, perhaps you get a sudden urge to call a friend. Follow through on this feeling, for your friend might need your support. To further strengthen your ability, try meditation. It helps to quiet your mind and relax your body.

3)   Clairaudience:
If you picked your movie based on its soundtrack, sound effects or dialogue, your primary sense is hearing, so your messages are going to arrive via words, musical lyrics, overheard conversations, and high-pitched buzzing sounds. You may also hear your guides and/or higher self talking inside your mind via clairaudience, which means ‘clear hearing’. These messages will be received through your ear chakras.

Development: This is the rarest gift and perhaps the most sought-after. I firmly believe each of us possess all of these gifts and more, but are conditioned to ignore them. In our not-too-distant past, people were locked up for hearing voices. Personally, I think this ability is the most valuable which is why I have diligently developed mine. If you wish to develop your clairaudience, then practice conversing with your guides. Ask a question and then listen to the voice inside your mind. If you receive positive, loving, enlightening, clear, and repetitive messages, then chances are they come from Source. If, on the other hand, the messages are random, fear-based and negative, then they come from your ego. I find it is helpful to ask my guides to speak louder than my ego. That way, they can drown out the background noise. And, if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. This one takes time and loads of patience, but the rewards are phenomenal. Just imagine being able to talk with your loved ones on the Other Side or with angels.

4)   Claircognizance:
Did you pick your movie based its concept, ideas and what it made you think? Perhaps the movie is smart and thought-provoking, or maybe it changed the way you viewed an aspect of life. If so, you are probably an intellectual and/or a deep thinker. Your messages will be communicated via claircognizance, meaning ‘clear thinking’, and will arrive in the form of ‘light bulb’ or Eureka! moments. Spirit guides and angels can download entire packets of information through your crown chakra into your mind whereby making you an unexpected expert on a topic. Most inventors are claircognizant, like you.

Development: If you spend most of your time in your left-brain, you are probably claircognizant. The majority of analytical, cerebral people are. Even more so than the clairsentients, people with claircognizance are unaware of their gift. Most people in this group tend to think their ideas originate in their brain when in reality many of these “A-ha!” moments come from a higher source. To develop your claircognizance, pay attention to those moments of inspiration. When an idea strikes, take action! Each time an idea leads to a positive outcome, your confidence in your intuition will increase. It’s a good idea to write down or sketch your ideas as they come to you. Keep a notebook or voice recorder in your purse so that you can record your ideas. It’s also helpful to share your ideas with the people in your life as not every idea is meant for you. Sometimes your messages are meant for a loved one or friend.

EXERCISE

Part B: Once you have identified your primary ability, go back through the list and see if you can spot your secondary gift. Then, practice, practice, practice! The only way to develop any kind of skill is through repetition. You have to use your intuition on a daily basis in order to strengthen it. Look, feel, listen and think your way to a stronger, clearer connection with Source, and notice how your life improves each time you use spiritual guidance system.
