The Meaning of Life

The question of life’s meaning has intrigued humanity for millennia. Each of us embarks on a unique soul journey, searching for purpose, understanding, and connection in an often complex world. While answers may seem elusive, the deeper we awaken to our inner wisdom and higher consciousness, the more clarity we find about why we are here. In this post, we’ll explore various perspectives on the meanings of life, inviting you to reflect on your own path and discover the soul-level truths that can illuminate your journey.

There are many ways of perceiving your life on Earth, and the purpose of being here. The simple truth is that you are Source pretending to be a human. Source is endlessly creative, and loves to explore all possibilities. Here are some ways that Source is creating through you.

A Game

Life is a game. Children understand this far better than we adults. Life may knock them down and cause them to cry, but minutes later they are off running, playing and laughing with their friends.

The best way to ‘win’ the game of life is by creating and sustaining reasons to be happy regardless of how many times you fall down.

Think back to how resilient and optimistic you were as a child. Now connect with your inner children and ask them what they need to be happy. Chances are your wise wee ones will tell you to work less and play more. Most adults have lost the sweetness in their life, which is why they find it increasingly difficult to get back up again after each fall. Allow your inner children to guide you back to joy.

A Dream

Your life is a dream that your soul is having, and your soul is a dream that Source is having. Just as a dream looks and feels real, so does your life. They’re equally real or unreal, depending on how you look at it. You are both the dreamer and the dream. Awakening within the dream will allow you to lucidly dream into ‘reality’ everything that your heart and soul desire.

  • Remind yourself how engaging and convincing your dreams are at night. Keep a journal by your bedside table and write your dreams in it before getting out of bed in the morning.
  • Practice lucid dreaming until you are able to consciously direct the flow of your dreams, then apply the same principals to your ‘waking’ life, and watch as the magic unfolds.

A Play

Life is a theatrical production. We collectively wrote the script and created our individual characters before incarnating here to enact our roles. Rather than being typecast, each time we return to the play we choose a different role. The darker roles broaden our acting chops and provide us and others with interesting contrast to the Light that is our truth. You are a method actor, meaning you live your role 24/7; however, once your character exits the play, you return to your real life. It’s important, therefore, not to confuse your role with your true being, or the play with your true life.

  • Think of how many masks you wear in the course of a day.
  • Notice how your behaviour alters depending on your frame of mind, the setting and the people present. You will see that you play many roles, none of whom are truly you.
  • To know your true self, turn your focus inward and upward. Connect with the part of you that is endlessly loving, and worry not about the role your loving soul is currently mastering.

A Learning Laboratory

Life is a classroom, and each of us is a pupil and a teacher. We come here to experiment and to learn from each other. The model for this classroom is both an experimental laboratory and a mastery learning centre. We create the learning opportunities for ourselves and then we learn at our own pace. Some of our experiments turn out well; others blow up in our face. Either way, our soul is satisfied because we have experienced something new.

  • The idea is not to be afraid of making mistakes. These are merely lessons in disguise. Learn from them, and then move on.
  • Recognize that you came from perfection to this intentionally imperfect classroom in order to make mistakes. This is the fastest and most effective way for the soul to learn.
  • Do not hesitate to try new approaches to life. Just don’t get stuck on the same lesson. Learn from your missteps and keep exploring.

Closing Thoughts

Ultimately, the meanings of life are as diverse and unique as the souls experiencing them. What matters most is finding resonance within your own heart and trusting the journey unfolding before you. Life is a sacred opportunity for growth, connection, and awakening—a continuous unfolding of your highest self. As you walk your path with curiosity and compassion, may you uncover the profound wisdom and joy that come from living authentically and in alignment with your soul’s purpose.
