Recently, I had a dream about our dog escaping from the backyard. I saw the left gate of our fence was open. This gate is seldom used so we rarely check it. The dream prompted me to get up and go outside to verify the gate was closed. Alas, I did not heed the warning; instead, I got up, let out the dog, and proceeded to make breakfast.
When Steve awoke, he was struck with a similar thought. “Go check the left gate”, a voice in his head prompted. Instead of heeding the warning, he too shrugged it off.
Suddenly the doorbell rang. A kindly woman, whom we had never before met, was standing on our step with a white dog. She said she was walking her dog and happened to spot Tux on the next street over. We figure she must have recognized Tux and known where he lived from seeing him in the window as she walked her dog past our house every day.
We were able to bring Tuxedo back home safely thanks to our angels.
When Steve and I didn’t heed our intuition (when will we learn?!), our angels enlisted the help of our neighbour. Such is the way of angels. At any given moment, we can be called upon to act as someone else’s angel.
The wisdom in this story is…
Pay attention to your instincts, ‘Eureka’ moments, dreams, feelings, etc. The more you heed your intuition, the stronger it becomes. Like any skill, it takes practice. No one is born an Olympian. Some people are obviously more gifted than others are, but everyone can achieve a measure of success with practice.
