Heal Yourself and Others

The most important element in being able to heal yourself or others is your connection with the energy from which everything composed. That energy is love; love that is conscious and manifesting the world around us through vibrations of light and sound. The following are some technique you can use to heal yourself as well as the people in your life. As you heal yourself, you also heal those around you.

Listen to Your Body

Everything that happens to the body starts as a thought. Persistent or significant thoughts create emotions. Emotions are designed to alert us to the presence of significant thoughts. If we ignore our emotions, they create chemical reactions in targeted areas of our body. Every area is linked to a specific thought and emotion.

For example, someone in your life may be a ‘pain in the neck’ so when you think of them, your neck hurts. In order to release the neck pain, you must first retrieve the message associated with it. Ask yourself, “Is there a name connected to this pain?” Don’t second-guess yourself. Whatever information comes to you is the correct answer. Next, ask yourself if you are willing to part with the pain. If so, then you can heal. If you do not wish to relinquish your aggravation with that person, then the neck pain will persist as a reminder to you.

Set Intentions

To heal yourself, or to be healed by another, you must first want to be healed. While this might sound like a foregone conclusion, it often is not. No one can heal you unless you truly want to be well. There is no magic cure, pill, operation, ceremony or other type of remedy to restore you to wellness. Only your sincerest intention will bring health back into your life.

If you find you’re not getting better despite everyone’s best efforts, spend time alone in reflection, and ask yourself these tough questions:

Have I become overly attached to, or identified with, this condition?
Does it help me to feel seen / loved / cared for?
Does it exempt me from doing things I dislike (i.e. going to work)?
In what other way(s) do I benefit from this?

If you’re honest with yourself, the answer(s) may surprise you.

Ground Yourself

Imagine that you are a tree. See or sense roots growing out of the soles of your feet and the base of your spine. Feel your energy taking root in the Earth, and imagine it branching out in all directions. Feel a taproot going all the way down to the heart of Mother Earth. Feel your energy and Gaia’s circulating throughout your body.

Channel the Energy

Become as still, as quiet, as possible. With practice you will be able to bring in the Energy under any circumstances. With your bare or stocking feet flat on the floor ask the Energy to come to you through Mother Earth and into your feet. At first you may feel varying degrees of heat or coolness or a tingling sensation or you may feel nothing at all as the Energy flows into you; there are no rules for this other than to be open and trusting. After a minute or two of asking the Energy to come to you visualize and feel the Energy moving up your legs into your body, arms and head. Acclimatize yourself to the Energy as it courses through you, feel its familiarity relaxing your entire being, release yourself to the Energy. Practice moving the Energy inside your physical body, direct it to specific areas. If you do not feel anything keep practising it will happen for you.

‘Energy Follows Thought’ is the mantra for all energy healing modalities. Practice healing yourself. For example, you have a sore left knee, send the Energy in the form golden coloured Light (or whatever colour works for you; comes naturally to you) to your left knee seeing your knee wrapped in a bandage of pure light. Feel the heat of the light soaking into you knee, visualize and feel whatever is negative leaving your knee. See it dissolving, melting or leaving not only your knee but your entire energy field. Feel your knee healing. Repeat as often as you wish. Do not try to force the healing but release into it. You will surprise yourself.

Once you are familiar with the Energy hold your hands on or near people, pets or plants. Release any expectations and pay attention to what you feel both physically through your hands and through your own Energy Field. With practice you will find the Energy that makes up your spouse, friend, dog or cat, tree or plant feels the same in all of us; it is merely manifesting differently in different forms. For me it was as if I had walked through a gateway into a much more expansive realm of being; I realized everything was much more interconnected than I had ever believed possible. The possibilities of creation were and are limitless; life regained its magical properties as I felt truly alive as an adult. You may rekindle your relationship with the universal Energy, Love, to help heal yourself and others thereby helping to ease the stress of life or you may use this new relationship to propel yourself into a new way of Being.

Heal With Colour

A good addition to many self-healing exercises is the inclusion of colour. Our seven major chakras and the seven corresponding layers of our aura field each share a principal colour. It should be no surprise that these seven colours are the seven colours found in a rainbow. Everything is much more intimately related than we may realize. Starting with the Root Chakra and working upwards the colours run red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Each colour has its own unique wavelength, affects us uniquely, and is different from another colour as one chakra’s purpose is different from another chakra’s. Tuning into these differences on a more intimate level adds another dimension to the healing process.

The best way to become more attuned to colour is to meditate upon that colour. Wear an article of clothing corresponding to the colour you are meditating upon or have an object or piece of paper that matches the colour you wish to bond with. As you begin to meditate set your intention to create a sacred space within you for the colour to enter. Fill that space up with the colour (i.e. red) and then allow the red wavelengths to flow out of the sacred space permeating both your physical body and your aura field. Feel the colour red, visualize yourself as totally red and become familiar with how this feels physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, truly becoming one with the colour red. Repeat for each of the other colours. You may prefer to work with a new colour each day and repeating that cycle for a number of weeks until you are comfortable with each colour.

Once attuned to colours you will find your self-healings and other healings are ramped up a couple of notches. As the intensity of the energy increases, you distinguish the feel of each colour. A perk of this is that you will see colour with your third eye and feel the colour in your body and energy field. The information you intuit this way is as valid as anything you can see with your eyes. Become familiar with colours, practice on yourself as you bond with each colour and, above all, have fun with colour. I do not subscribe to a lot of rules when it comes to healing but one rule I do believe in is this: healthy colours feel healthy and joyful. Embrace the joy!

Clear the Aura

To heal someone else, fill your spirit with brilliant white light, or a golden white light from Source. See or sense the light flowing down your prana tube and into your crown chakra. Feel it filling each chakra and auric layer as it fills your prana tube all way down to the heart of Gaia. Envision the light expanding outwards until it encompasses the world. Feel your loving connection to all life. Then envision your spirit lightbody merging with your patient and radiating light into him/her. Depending on the patient’s receptivity, results can be nothing short of miraculous. Old physical limitations are shattered as the patient reclaims and reconnects with his/her spirit. It’s as though the person is reborn into the Light. This represents not only the future of healing, but also the future of humanity for it is what we are evolving into. If the patient is ready and open to receiving all the blessings of this light, the healing comes an awakening, an ascension in consciousness, the reconnection with your lightbody, and infinitely more possibilities.

You can also use smudge to clear the aura.

Boundary Setting

Keep your aura clear, or help others to be safe, by setting healthy boundaries.

  • Set limits by saying no. “No” is a complete sentence; it does not require an explanation.
  • If you feel obliged to offer an explanation say, “I’m sorry, but I am unable to help you.”
  • Practice saying no every day to get into the habit of establishing healthy boundaries.
  • Know your limits, and honour them. Do not overextend yourself.
  • Ask for help. Don’t try to do everything for everyone.
  • Honour your feelings. If you don’t feel like doing something that’s non-vital, then don’t do it.

Be the Tree

The sun affects us in a number of positive ways not the least of which is as a source of vitamin D so why not, on a beautiful sunny day such as today, maximize those positive benefits. Through the process of photosynthesis tress are the ultimate Sunatarians, turning sunlight into life giving energy. We can do the same. Remember energy follows thought.

  • Visualize the outer edge of the seventh layer of your Aura field covered with large light gathering leaves.
  • Imagine some of the stems of these leaves flowing into each layer of your Aura Field while visualizing the majority of these stems entering into your physical body.
  • Once you have this visualization held firmly in your heart and mind then see the sun’s energy you are collecting through your leaves flowing to your Aura layers and your physical body.
  • As this energy flows through you it is both purging and revitalizing at the same time.
  • See anything negative dissolving before the light, feel the sun’s energy supplementing and strengthening your own energy field.

There is no set time length for this exercise, trust your own judgment on how long a time works best for you. I find 20 minutes or more works best for me. Pick your favourite tree become a canopy of leaves, and allow the energy to flow.

Release What You Do Not Love

Anything that you resist persists, so don’t fight a disease. For example, in lieu of saying, “I’m fighting Cancer” say “I release Cancer and embrace perfect health”.

Also, do not claim ownership of an ailment (i.e. my Arthritis). Omit “my” from your vocabulary when talking about health challenges. When you identity the disease as yours, it is much harder to release.

Language really does matter. Your body is always listening. Healing happens when you release the energy (thought, emotion, form) that is making you ill.

When we experience emotional pain, we often place blame on external factors, and on other people; however, if we are completely hones, we would see that our own thoughts, feelings, and expectations, influence the manner in which we relate to others. As uncomfortable as that realization may be initially, it is also liberating. It puts us squarely in the driver’s seat, and diminishes our feelings of helplessness and victim-consciousness. But we can go farther than that. Rather that expending negative energy, we should try to create a sense of well-being, balance, and happiness in not only our life but in the lives of those around us. When we self-heal, we also heal those around us. Similarly, when we heal others, we also heal ourselves in the process.

Resentment, anger, and hurt are corrosive emotions that eat away at the vessel that contains them. Forgiveness is the key to ridding yourself of these destructive emotions. When you forgive someone, you release yourself from being a victim, and you give yourself permission to be happy again. No longer do you have to suffer due to something the other person might have said or done.

How do you forgive others, especially when their actions have created so much pain? It’s quite easy, actually. You simply need to acknowledge that only love is real. Love is the energy that created the universe. You and everyone in this life are comprised of pure love. The less-than-desirable aspects of your personality, and that of others, are merely illusions. These so-called negative traits are in fact the product of false perceptions. When we refuse to see, or are unable to see, love in others or in ourselves, we create shadows or illusions of darkness. These shadows create fear, and fear begets ‘negative’ behaviour. Since only love is real, then the fear and the negativity are merely illusions. We respond to the perception of a lack of love with fear, anger and hostility. So, you see, we create the negativity that we blame on others.

The only way we can stop this cycle of negativity, is to accept that only love is real. Once you make peace with that notion, everything becomes crystal-clear. You no longer need to react helplessly to other people’s negativity. Instead, you will be better able to look beyond the shadows, and see into their very soul. Look for the love within, and you will find it every time. At first, this exercise might feel daunting and impossible because some people project very dark shadows. In that case, you must not look at the person as they are today; instead, visualize their timeless soul. Go within and connect to their heart chakra via your own heart energy.

If you still encounter difficulties connecting with them, and forgiving them, then that is an indication of an imbalance within YOU. Yes, this is an even harder concept to bear, but it is truly the only path to peace and understanding. You must heal within yourself that which annoys you most about the other person. When you heal yourself, you then free yourself from future triggers. This liberates you and augments your happiness.

But, there is a second and even more powerfully significant benefit…you also heal the other person! This process is known as Ho’oponopono. This is a Hawaiian word meaning “to make right”. The process is deceptively simply and yet is more powerful than any cognitive therapy in the world. It involves healing within yourself that which created problems in the other person. To do this, you simply think of the person and you say:

I’m sorry.
Please forgive me.
I love you.
I thank you.

Ho’oponopono puts the healing onus on you. That may not seem fair at first, until you realize that the only person you can true change is yourself. So, instead of railing against injustice, heal the people involved by healing yourself with love. This is a vastly more rewarding process than being consumed by negativity and feelings of helplessness. For every person that you heal, you yourself become more loving, peaceful, and happy. Why not try it today? See how many people you can help simply by sending them love. If we all healed just one person, we could heal the world!

Heal the World

While you’re healing others, why not send Mother Earth a healing, too? After all, our health is directly linked to her health, and vice versa. Begin by visualizing your patient as connected to everyone on Earth, along with Mother Earth herself, then begin the healing. That way, the healing will radiate out to everyone who needs it, and to our beautiful planet too.
